Community Service

One of the points of the Scout Law is to be "Helpful".

As a scout progresses through the ranks, they must complete several hours of community service before they move onto the next rank.

Scouting for Food

Each November, all of the troops and packs in the village help out with this community event.

The first Saturday in November scouts place on all of the doors in the homes in Sidney a door hanger indicating that they will be back next week to pick up any food a household places out by their door.  This food is collected for the local food bank.

The scouts collect the food and take it to the Sidney Food Bank located in the basement of the Methodist Church.  There they help pre-sort the food before it is put away in the food bank's storage room for distribution.
